Split shipments: separate what was sent from what was received
Prepared by SinoWarehousing · Practical handover checks with linked platform guidance.
A supplier dispatch can arrive in several batches. Recording the entire expected quantity as received after the first delivery makes later discrepancies harder to understand.
Understand the seller’s transfer record
Shopify’s transfer guidance describes movement between locations or external suppliers, full or partial receipt, optional tracking and multiple shipments. The seller’s configured process determines what is recorded in Shopify; it does not prove an outside warehouse has received every unit.
Match the physical batch
As an operating proposal, record the transfer reference, dispatch batch, carton IDs, tracking references, expected units and counted units. Keep damaged or unidentified units separate from stock approved for use. Record the outstanding quantity without treating it as lost before checking the remaining shipments.
Approve the next movement
Ask the seller to approve how a partial receipt affects the destination allocation. Keep the original expectation and each dated receipt instead of replacing them with a single total. Receiving, inspection and platform availability remain separate checkpoints. Destination addresses and handling scope require shipment-specific acceptance.
